Sweet Hollywood bespoke wedding cakes

Due to the Coronavirus, we are now working from home, if you need to contact us urgently please email: emmah@euromedia-al.co.uk

A couple only has one shot at their wedding cake, so it is no surprise that brides are going all out to make sure their cakes are reflecting the latest and greatest in designs.  Vows and Venue’s speak to Sweet Hollywood, a unique bespoke cake company based in London founded by husband and wife duo Pardeep Gill & Renu Kaur Gill.

Sweet Hollywood cater for all occasions, however they have built their impeccable reputation around creating bespoke wedding cakes.  Like Hollywood their cakes are larger than life, with each edible work of art directed by the client and then beautifully crafted by their team of artists.

We sat down with Pardeep and Renu to talk through the wedding cake trends we can expect from 2016:

Damask

 White Wedding Cakes

“The fresh new way to a white wedding cake is to add interesting all-white embellishments. Dress up tiers with details, like piped embroidery or jewelled embellishments (we love petals or even pearls). Non-traditional shaped tiers, like hexagons and ovals, make the cake a little more out of the ordinary.”

Woodland Wedding Cakes

“With ‘rustic’ being a carried-on theme into 2016, the woodland wedding cake is still a favourite. Usually white, the cakes are decorated with leaves and flowers as they sit on a tree trunk base surrounded by moss. This look really does suit rustic weddings, which is why the cake is such a hit.”

Colourful Cakes

"For brides that want something different to the traditional white cake. Cake colours can be chosen to complement the overall wedding colour scheme; choosing a bolder shade of the bridesmaid dress colour often works well. Large individual patterns such as flowers can extend across several cake layers to add impact."

Lace

Lace Wedding Cakes

"There is a growing trend towards basing your cake design on the style of your wedding dress. Ivory, cream and white cakes are regaining popularity, and these are being decorated with pearls, diamante, fabric, flowers and pieces of jewellery to mimic the bride’s outfit. The key to pulling it off is in the colour. This trend works best with light hues and little contrast.”

Glitterati

Metallic Cakes

"Metallic icing and dustings of glitter will be strong again this year. The best part about metallics is that they can adapt to any style. Delicate embroidery in gold feels opulent while geometric shapes give off a fresh, modern feel. If an entire tier is too much glitz for you, consider adding a little sparkle all over. Fine edible glitter can add a decorative sheen to your cake without overpowering the whole design."
