Royal Wedding costs 1,000 times the UK average

According to an article by NY Daily News this years royal wedding is going to set the UK back £21 million which is just over 1,000 times the average 2018 cost of a wedding which comes in at £23,916.

However, when Prince Philip and Kate Middleton married in 2011, the UK benefitted from a £2 billion boost in UK tourism. Seven years ago, the cost of an average wedding was £21,939.

Traditionally, wedding season in the UK extends from late May to September, with summer months proving most popular to promised lovers. New data released today by HomeAway®, the world leader in holiday rentals, uncovers the world’s most romantic holiday destinations for a marriage proposal. The Caribbean (15%) comes out on top for British romantics, followed by Italy (13%) and the USA (7%) respectively.

Fewer church weddings than 40 years ago

There has been a dramatic shift in terms of wedding traditions and trends in recent years. In fact, 55% fewer couples have had church weddings in the last five years than 40+ years ago, according to new research from jewellery insurance provider Protect Your Bubble

The research also revealed a sharp decline in the number of couples expecting the brides’ parents to cough up for the cost of the wedding and those choosing to live separately until their wedding day, which were down 68% and 78% respectively over the same period. 

However, some traditions that had previously waned in popularity in recent decades appear to be making a comeback.

A limited run of the fruity gin will be made by Brindle Distillery, Brindle, for Copa Fizz under their label  and sell bottles at £45 each.

According to a poll by national jewellers, Beaverbrooks, 24 percent of modern men are asking the most important question of their lives without a traditional diamond ring.

And when it comes to delivering the ‘perfect proposal’, it seems many men are missing the mark on the style, size and stone of their partner’s ring.

The Mary Rose has been crowned one of the top venues in the South East after winning a major industry award last night. Judges praised the Mary Rose as an ‘inspirational place’ as the events team picked up the Silver award in the Venue and Business Category of the Beautiful South Awards, held at the Grand Hotel Brighton.
