Many couples opt for a cheap wedding abroad, especially as the average UK wedding is now said to cost over £25,000 while the average cost of a wedding abroad is more like £7,000. There are more than financial costs to take into account, as more of us become more eco-conscious, many couples also tot up the carbon cost of their weddings. The average wedding costs between 14-62 tonnes of carbon (the average carbon footprint of one person for one year is 14 tonnes).

A new study of retired Brits has revealed that over two thirds of couples in their golden years claim they are happier now than they EVER have been. 

A further 65 percent said their marriage or relationship is stronger since retirement because they now have more time to spend with each-other. 

Over half (52 percent) said their relationship had flourished since giving up work as they no longer have to endure the stresses of office life – or the pressures of running a family home.

The significant investment will transform the rooms in the East Wing including the Great Hall, Terrace Room and Sir Edward’s Bar, to create luxurious surroundings highlighting the original features of this historic venue.

Maften Hall have employed North East interior designers and architects, Space ID, to manage the project due to their shared aesthetic vision and proven track record with other leading UK hotels.
