In July 2017 the National Gallery welcomed its first bride and groom for an intimate wedding breakfast. Celebrating with a joyful gathering of family and friends, the couple held a very special wedding ‘breakfast’ (this time it was actually breakfast, being hosted before public opening) in the stunning surroundings of the Gallery’s glass-domed Barry Rooms. The pair chose the National Gallery as their wedding venue for their personal love of art and for the opportunity to have the paintings and beautiful spaces all to themselves as part of their wedding celebrations.

Wedding venue National GalleryLocated in the heart of Central London, the National Gallery is conveniently placed in one of the most vibrant and historical spaces in the capital and houses one of the greatest collections of Western European paintings in the world, ranging from the 13th to the 19th centuries.

Within the Gallery there are a range of elegant event spaces which can accommodate the wedding reception of your dreams, from a private breakfast or a simple drinks reception to a magnificent dinner alongside some of the world’s most iconic works of art.

Whether you would like an intimate space for a small group, or our largest space for closer to 450 people, the venue has something for everyone; from the stunning Barry Rooms with its glass domed ceiling to the exquisite Mosaic Terrace for smaller celebrations. You can view a selection of images here.

Now, for a limited time in 2018, couples are offered the opportunity to host their wedding reception and breakfast in the heart of London surrounded by beautiful art and architecture.

Kate Rolfe, Head of Events at the National Gallery, says: “Wedding receptions are brand new for us and we’re really excited to see our first couples coming to celebrate here. I think what makes the Gallery especially attractive for wedding receptions and private parties is the location – your guests arrive directly from Trafalgar Square, you can have photos and drinks on the Portico looking out over Nelson’s column and Big Ben, then after all the dinner and dancing it‘s also easy for everyone to travel home."

National GalleryThe Gallery has a list of accredited suppliers to personalise your reception, from themed menu choices, beautiful lighting, meticulous photographers to entertainment for you and your guests.
