Bristol is home to a stunning new wedding venue, following the restoration of the historic Avon Gorge hotel, which has been transformed into the new-look Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin.
The iconic Victorian building, which dates back to 1898, has been completely renovated, and now offers two distinct spaces that provide the perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies, civil partnerships, receptions and celebrations.
Housed in the former Spa’s pump rooms under the hotel is a unique collection of private rooms, Aquam Bibe, complete with private bar and wine cellar. Many of the venue’s original features were uncovered during the renovation work, and have been incorporated into the design of this space – beautiful tiled flooring, original Turkish bath doorways and amazing stained-glass windows. Exposed brick walls, contemporary chandeliers, and bespoke artwork finish the look, creating a space that elegantly transforms from formal ceremony during the day to a stunning candle-lit dining room in the evening.
Then there is the private terrace which, with spectacular panoramic views over Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, is available for exclusive hire. Whether it’s an informal BBQ or hog roast with your nearest and dearest, or a stylish drinks reception before the wedding breakfast, it offers one of the most breath-taking settings in the UK.
For both spaces the hotel’s chefs will work with the couple to find a menu that suits them. From mouth-watering canapés to wedding breakfasts, informal buffets and BBQs to five-course candle lit dinners, every mouthful is prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients, and the hotel’s knowledgeable, in-house sommelier will be on hand to help find the perfect wine to match.
With 78 stunning bedrooms and suites, guests that need – or want – to stay the night will be able to wind down in luxury. A contemporary development of the traditional Hotel du Vin style, think dark greys, teals and greens, with colourful accents, stylish furniture and quirky artwork.
