You've spent months preparing for your big day. The venue is booked, the flowers are ordered, the dress has been delivered and the guest list has been finalised. Don't forget about the most important person though, you! We have consulted with our expert plastic surgeon Dr Kenneth Kok at Skin & Follicle and have come up with these top 5 tips you should be following to look your best on the day.

 1.          Moisturise

2.          Sun protection

3.          Chemical peel

4.          Anti wrinkle injections

5.          Sleep

Moisturise

Moisturising your skin may seem a pretty obvious first step but is easily neglected. "Dry, dehydrated skin are stripped of lipids which are an outer protective barrier.  This can result in irritants entering the skin and causing redness and flaking. A low level of chronic inflammation can also occur which ultimately leads to a breakdown of collagen and the formation of wrinkles" warns Kenneth Kok, consultant plastic surgeon at Skin & Follicle clinic. "Dry skin can also make your present wrinkles more prominent and aggravate acne" he adds. Try IS clinical dry skin kit available from Skin & Follicle clinic in Birmingham RRP £195skincare

Sun protection

Everyone loves the sun, but beware the UVA and UVB radiation which can cause DNA damage to your skin. "This not only result in the formation of wrinkles, but is also a leading cause of skin cancer" states Dr Kenneth Kok. He recommends using a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. Try IS Clinical Extreme Protect Treatment SPF 30 100g which also contains powerful anti-aging properties. Available from Skin & Follicle clinic in Birmingham RRP £60

Chemical peel

Want to reduce the number of fine lines and wrinkles before your big day ? You should consider a chemical peel. "A chemical peel is simply the controlled application of certain products to the skin to cause varying degrees of exfoliation. The new, regenerated skin will be smoother and less wrinkled" says Kenneth Kok. Try IS Clinicals Fire and Ice resurfacing treatment which consists of two treatment masques : a powerful intensive resurfacing masque (Fire) and a rejuvenating masque (Ice). This was pioneered in Beverley Hills and coveted by A list celebrities globally for resurfacing and reducing fine lines. Available at Skin & Follicle clinic in Birmingham for £75

The facial muscles are used for expression. As these muscles contract, they can cause the formation of unwanted wrinkles on the forehead, glabella (between the eyes) and the crows feet (around the corners of the eyes). "Botulinum toxin has been used for over 20 years in facial wrinkle reduction. It acts by paralysing the muscle in which it is injected into. It does not cause any long lasting effects to the muscle and is extremely effective. Its action is temporary however and usually needs to be topped up every 4-6 months" says Kenneth Kok. Anti wrinkle injections are available at Skin & Follicle clinic in Birmingham from £180

Sleep

Your big day is around the corner so unsurprisingly you are anxious and finding it difficult to sleep. This can take its toll on your skin and eyes. "Lack of sleep can age your skin resulting in fine lines and dark circles around your eyes" says Kenneth Kok. Fortunately IS Clinicals youth eye complex has been specially formulated to target the eye area with immediate and long term results, reducing puffiness and dark circles. Available from Skin & Follicle RRP £82
