We give you the lowdown on the hottest trends of the year and how to achieve them.

2017 is here and a time when we reminisce the year gone and forecast the year ahead. We take a look at the hottest nail trends of the New Year, inspired by the catwalks - will you be trying these trends or giving them a miss?

Black is back!

This simple yet effective dark nail was spotted all over the catwalk, as seen on Aalto S/S catwalk. Easily created, simply apply a dark pigmented polish all over the nails such as SensatioNail’s Midnight Rendezvous or alternatively you can try another dark shade such as SensatioNail’s Black Plum which has a tint of purple. This trend is perfect for both days and nights with its edgy gothic twist.

Stay Neutralstay neutral

A contrast to our first forecast, another trend spotted on catwalks and celebrities was a plain nail. Seen at many shows such as Oscar De La Renta, the plain Jane varnish is one to watch out for. Simply apply a clear varnish all over the nail, or alternatively you can create this look by applying a sheer nude shade which will add a hint of colour onto the nail. SensatioNail’s Barely there or So Rosy gel colours are great for Spring/Summer or when you're looking for a pretty yet barely there look.

Pop till you drop

Punchy colours are here to stay. Bright and bold tones with a twist of colour contrast are right on trend, as spotted with Jeremy Scott. Perfect for the summer season, this look can be copied by using a favourite bold bright polish all over the nail such as SensatioNail’s Pink Purple People Eater and Island Hopper. To get this look down to a T, you can then apply a second shade in a circular shape in the middle go graphicof the nail with SensatioNail’s Kiwi Squeeze or even Tropical punch.

Go Graphic

Seen almost everywhere, this trend is set to be one of the biggest of 2017. Creating any graphic nail art your heart desires from negative spacing, dots, prints and even cartoons, there is no end to what you can create. One of our favourite designs was spotted at the Christian Siriano show. Consisting of block colour and stripes- these funky fingers are easier to create than you think. To do this you can firstly paint half your nail in a blue and the other half white, using gel colours like SensatioNail’s Mostly Mint and White Lily. After this, using nail stripes you can then create the black graphic lines - this look is perfect for any kind of season and occasion.
