Picking your perfect wedding photographer

MANCHESTER-based wedding photographer Shane Webber knows just how stressful organising the big day can be and has put together his top tips for selecting the right person to capture your special moments.

1. Research, research, research

Shane says: “There are a lot of wedding photographers out there, so if you do your research, you will be able to find a great photographer that fits within your budgetand more importantly the style that you want – but make sure to ask to see entire wedding shoots and to ask for client testimonials, as that will give you a great idea of what you can expect on your big day.”

2. Spend time with your photographer before the big day

“When I meet couples for an initial consultation, one of the first things that I often hear is ‘we don’t really like having our photo taken’ – this is natural. You may freeze up or feel awkward having your photo taken, but a big part of that is down to who is taking it. Your wedding day is one of the most important of your life, so it is vital that you feel comfortable with the person capturing it. Remember that the photographer is actually one of the most important guests on the day!”manchester wedding photographer

3. Take recommendations

The chances are that if someone close to you was pleased with the work of a particular photographer, then the chances are you will be too. Friends and family are also a great source of advice – they’ve done it before and know what to look out for. A good photographer will always be happy to share testimonials from their previous clients too.”

4. Don’t haggle on price straight away

“When you’re starting to contact wedding photographers, you should never begin the conversation by trying to haggle on price. It’s really important to feel a valued part of the wedding, so the best way to approach things is to talk about what you like about our work and why you’d like us to photograph your big day – this is something we pride ourselves on.

“That’s not to say that there aren’t discounts available out there and if you approach it in the right way then you might just bag yourself a good photographer for less than you thought.”

5. Go with your gutmanchester wedding photographer

“Choosing a wedding photographer is a very personal thing, so if your gut tells you that you’ve found the perfect match, you probably have.”
