With 2016 slowly coming to an end we’re looking to 2017 and what wedding trends the year will bring. The Scottish Wedding Show takes us through some of their favourite trends set to be big for the coming season.

FASHION TRENDS

For all the brides-to-be who are readying themselves for the gruelling task of hunting down the perfect dress don’t panic, we’ve provided a complete low down on the top fashion trends.

2017’s runway collections are hitting us with a range of quirky and sophisticated trends to suit everyone.

Dare to bare

With plunging necklines, daring sheers and cut-outs dominating the runway, brides-to-be are encouraged to show some skin in these elegantly sexy gowns - perfect for the modern day brides looking to make a bold entrance.

‘The Cold Shoulder’

For those who don’t want to be quite so daring on their big day, the ‘The Cold Shoulder’ trend is the one for you. With delicate straps gliding across the arms, this classic style teamed with its ultra-feminine neckline will have you feeling like a million dollars on your big day!

Trouser Swagger

Bridal trousers and jumpsuits are set to challenge the traditional wedding gown this season. This trend can be just as impactful (if not more) as a full length ball gown – question is are you brave enough to try it?!

Bejewelled

It’s time to ditch the tiaras ladies as there’s a new headwear in town. While tiaras are usually seen as the perfect finishing touch to the typical Cinderella fairy-tale look, the bejewelled headbands are on a mission to shake up tradition and spread bohemian-chic vibes all round!

Chokers

The much loved 90’s choker has been given a present-day modern makeover with a romantic twist. Whether you opt for a white fabric or a glitzy number, this trends is the perfect statement piece for your wedding day jewellery.

THEMES

The Great Outdoors

Many brides are now opting out of traditional weddings and choosing to get married in the great outdoors. Whether it be a rustic homespun barn wedding filled with nature-inspired décor, illuminating string lighting and rustic lanterns or a simple candlelit ceremony with lit crystal chandeliers, this beautiful trend is filled with pure romance and will melt your heart.

Vintage

If you’re a lover of all things vintage then you’ll be happy to know that the vintage wedding trend is still going strong! This very romantic theme mixes old-world items and antiques, you can even add your own family heirlooms to create a more personal touch.

FLOWER POWER

Flowers play an important part in your big day, they embody the wedding with romance and nostalgia so be sure to make sure you choose yours wisely! Here are a few of our favourite trends…

Wild Thing

We’re loving the idea of having old fashioned wild flowers making a comeback and so will eco savvy brides! The natural beauty of wildflower bouquets are the perfect choice if you’re wanting to go for a relaxed and down to earth theme. Opt for less structured floral arrangements to create a loose, romantic and outdoorsy feel.

Flower Chandeliers

Hanging flowers and flower chandeliers are set to stay with us through 2017. Creating giant hanging centrepieces are a great way to spruce up a plain space, these dramatic fittings help to bring the outside in creating an ‘outdoor’ inspired wedding.

QUIRKY FOODS

As we grow tired of traditional wedding foods, guests this season are being served more relaxed food options - from a selection of buffet tables to suit everyone’s tastes to inexpensive BBQ style foods. We will also see the rise of quirky little pop ups, with everything from mini prosecco vans to the new take on the sweetie cart - the sweetie tricycle. These added little extras are guaranteed to make your wedding that little bit different.

LITTLE EXTRAS

#Wedding

Why not create your own hashtag for friends and family to use throughout the day? It’s a great way for you to relive your night through other people’s eyes and to capture every single moment of your big day!

Arrive in style

Make sure you get to the church on time… in a pedicab! They can be transformed into a fleet of beautiful wedding chariots and chauffeurs, or simply style them with flowers and bunting for a special memorable journey!

With so many different trends to choose from there is plenty in the way to get you inspired for your special day.
