When you’re jet setting off around the world on your honeymoon, there’s every chance that you end up in a country where the laws are a little different to here in the UK. Whilst most of us would never dream of doing anything which we thought would class as breaking the law, in some countries it’s sometimes the things you wouldn’t think you could get into trouble for that can see you on the wrong side of the law.

We were shared this fantastic infographic which has been put together by Citybase Apartments which showcases 10 things which can get you into serious trouble abroad but wouldn’t here in the UK. Have a look and take note if you’re planning on travelling to any of the destinations listed on your honeymoon.

The standout ones and perhaps the most surprising to us were:

  • If you take more than two packets of chewing gum into Singapore you can be charged for ‘gum smuggling,’ a law which came into force following a 1992 incident in which it was used to shut down the public transport system.
  • Unless you want to be put behind bars, don’t even consider stepping on money in Thailand. As a destination which is gaining popularity with the Western world, it’s surprising this isn’t better known, especially as the act is deemed to be one of disrespect of the King.
  • Love a good zombie movie? Don’t mention it in Haiti! The country does it’s best not to acknowledge or speak about zombies and if you feel you could turn someone into one; keep quiet as it’s a chargeable offence!

Why not take a moment to have a look at the full list for yourself and take note before heading abroad to any of the destinations listed?
