The Most Likely Royal Honeymoon Destinations

There are just over two weeks to go until the Royal Wedding, but perhaps the biggest questions on everyone’s lips at the moment is - where will be the Royal Honeymoon be?

Meghan and Harry are expected to jet off together shortly after their big day, and luxury holiday provider Sovereign have broken down their potential destinations in their Countdown to Paradise - which spans the globe from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean.

royal honeymoonThe Seychelles

Is the Seychelles suitable for a Royal Honeymoon? Well, just ask Prince William and Kate Middleton - who took their honeymoon there in 2011. However, if the new royal couple do choose the Seychelles - we predict they won’t follow exactly in Wills and Kate’s footsteps and jet off to the North Island.

Instead, it looks likeliest that they would opt for the Frégate Island Private - a stunning conservation sanctuary on its own small atol, surrounded by crystal clear azure blue seas. With enormous villas and secluded beaches - this private paradise would make any honeymoon perfect.

Boasting some of the most beautiful scenery in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a hugely popular honeymoon destination, with ancient villages and wildly pretty waterfronts just made for strolling along, hand-in-hand.

One of the clearest indications many have pointed to for Cyprus being a potential Royal Honeymoon destination is that it has already seen one too! The Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, and Mike Tindall enjoyed a belated holiday after their wedding at the 5-star Columbia Beach Resort back in 2011 - and the island’s inherently private nature will appeal to the new couple so they can relax away from prying eyes.

Tetiaroa, French PolynesiaTetiaroa wedding

How beautiful is the private French Polynesian island of Tetiaroa? Well, world-famous actor, Marlon Brando, who once purchased and renamed it to be “Marlon Brando Island”, was famously left speechless, calling the scenery “beautiful beyond my capacity to describe.”

If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want any inside knowledge about how this island paradise stacks up as a honeymoon destination, look no further than Pippa Middleton, who chose the blue oasis as the scene for her honeymoon with new husband James Matthew in June last year.

tuscany honeymoonTuscany

If you’ve never considered an Italian honeymoon - it’s time to think again. With your choice of everything from hilltop vineyards and fairytale villages to coastal beaches and the freshest seafood - Tuscany can cater to every style of honeymoon - even a Royal one.

Not only is Tuscany perhaps the most beautiful part of Italy (and there are plenty to choose from), but the deep affection Meghan Markle herself holds for the region is clear from the name of her old lifestyle blog, “The Tig”. Tig is, in fact, short for Tignanello, a world-renowned ruby red Tuscan wine made by the famous wine house of Antinori.

Until announced by Buckingham Palace, it’s not possible to say for sure where the Royal Honeymoon will take place - but these certainly seem to be the most likely destinations. Whichever they pick - it’s sure to be spectacular.
