We have left January now and already we are starting to see excitement building around weddings taking place this year.  Last year, we saw some amazing wedding trends, which included enormous floral and balloon installations, lots of vintage glamour, contemporary marble and geode details, signature cocktail bars and not forgetting the trend for making sure your wedding is Insta-worthy!  So, how is this year going to compare?  Wedding stylist, Lindsey Hunter shares her wedding trend predictions for 2018.

2018 wedding trend predictions

Wedding trend 2018Colour fusions – After Pantone released their top colours for 2018 spring weddings they closely followed this by announcing that Ultra Violet would be the Colour of the Year for 2018, which we are very excited about.  2018 is certainly going to be the year for colour as we are expecting to see lots of unusual colour combinations, which is perfect if your venue is neutral as it enables you to be really creative with colour and styling.

Oversized blossom trees – We are seeing an increase in the use of blossom trees and the larger the better.  Couples will be choosing both real and artificial options.  With the use of some fantastic artificial options, couples on all budgets will be able to access this wow factor trend.  As the Instagram age is taking control, couples can now re-create their dream Insta-wedding for their own wedding with the use of artificial arrangements.

The ‘Greenery’ trend – Greenery was a very popular trend in 2017, from colour themes to huge greenery displays, which is set to continue throughout 2018.  We are predicting this versatile trend to be featured in all aspects of weddings from extravagant Enchanted Forest themes, colour schemes and details to dresses, table décor and more.

Glass dome decorations – 2017 saw a surge in the use of terrariums for table decorations and these will feature throughout 2018.  Keeping with the contained décor look, we are also expecting to see lots of glass dome decorations, which will house pretty floral displays inside.  Couples will be placing these on rustic log slices for an elegant vintage look and complete the look with lots of candles and displays of fresh flowers.

Stylist wedding trendColourful table linens – As we know, 2018 is going to be a colourful year when it comes to weddings, so we are going to see couples breaking away from the traditional crisp white tablecloths and move towards decorating their reception tables with colouful table linens.  This trend will also see the use of combining coloured tablecloths with colourful napkins to complement the overall styling.

Fruit and vegetables – Couples want to stand out on their wedding day by creating a look that will be unforgettable.  To go with the colour trend, we are predicting the use of lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, which will feature on table displays, floral arrangements and even in the bouquet!  Fresh fruit and vegetables look wonderdul as table decorations when combined with some simple flowers, lots of candles, pretty lights and glassware.

Coloured wedding dresses – We have already been seeing coloured wedding dresses appearing on the catwalk, so we are excited to see how many brides will opt for a coloured dress over the traditional white or ivory.  Would you wear a coloured dress?
