The Mill Wheel Spa at The Three Horseshoes Inn, Staffordshire Peak District
Featuring many UK first experiences, The Mill Wheel Spa complete with its own beach experience at The Three Horseshoes Country Inn, on the edge of the picturesque Staffordshire Peak District, is now open! Founded by the Kirk family, this new spa at the Inn celebrates the heritage of its Staffordshire farming roots with new wellness innovations and a warm welcome.
The Beach Hut experience which replicates the positive benefits of being on a beach in the sun in a comfortable, safe and relaxing environment, is just one of the innovative and exciting spa experiences sourced from Austrian wellness supplier, Haslauer. Lying on a bed of warm sand, this 25 minute experience takes guests from darkness to sunrise to peak sunshine and then sunset. Relaxing music and essential oils complete the ‘holiday’ experience. It is the perfect way to top up Vitamin D levels and stimulate the metabolism.
In the Stonebath, guests experience elemental forces which occur deep-down in the earth’s core, in an awe-inspiring fashion. Mineral stones are heated in the oven, the basket containing the hot stones is dipped into a basin filled with cold water and the sizzling stones set free all the valuable minerals along with the steam to fill the room. This extraordinary experience creates a feeling of wellbeing.
The Farmers Sauna, is an attractive alternative to a “conventional” sauna - this enchanting wood-panelled room is authentic in its design, with a rustic and rural feel that connects it to its location and the local history of the Spa.
Central to the spa’s thermal area, is the Mill Wheel shower, also a UK first, turned by water power. The water pours out from the shovels in intervals, alternatively warm and cold, a welcome refreshment after visiting the hotter experiences!
Other facilities include an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, a plunge pool, a beautiful outdoor spa garden and three treatment rooms offering a range of natural beauty and wellbeing treatments from celebrities’ favourite, Heaven by Deborah Mitchell and alpine pioneer, Kurland.
Five new Garden Rooms are also now available, each feature a private garden with a personal cedar wood hot tub.
