Oxford Chelt Wine School hen party

Hen party Wine tasting Oxford ChetA pure wine tasting: we recommend making use of a blind tasting game - makes for much more fun, gets everyone thinking and talking about the wine and is suitable regardless of how much or how little the participants know about wine.  The tasting would include 7 wines starting with Champagne and Cava, and two pairs of still wines (a white and a red), with a bottle of fizz given at the end to the winning team.  We give clues to help nudge everyone in the right direction, as well as information on the wines themselves, including an explanation on how to taste wine like a professional. The emphasis is on having an enjoyable time and learning by tasting.  We bring all the tasting glasses and cooling equipment that we need, and some nibbles to help it go down.  The minimum charge for up to 12 people is £300 for this type of tasting, with additional people being charged at £25/head.

Champagne and Fizz tasting: we start with a premium Prosecco, followed by a vintage Cava and a delicious sparkling rosé from the New World.  We then blind taste side by side a top quality English fizz and a non-vintage Champagne (not easy to tell the difference!) and finish with a vintage Champagne. We’ll also incorporate a quiz to add some extra sparkle to the evening, and we will also demonstrate how to open a bottle of fizz using sabrage (cutting it off using a sabre!).  The emphasis is on having an enjoyable time and learning by tasting.  We bring all the tasting glasses and cooling equipment that we need and only ask the venue to provide us with some water and water glasses.  For a group of up to 12 people, we charge £390 for this type of tasting, with additional people being charged at £32.50/head.

Chocolate & Wine pairing tasting: our chocolate and wine tastings make use of high quality French chocolate disks (with cocoa content varying from 45 to 99%) paired with 6 different wines, including some classics like Tawny Port with milk chocolate and some more unusual combinations such as Malbec with dark chocolate.  We end the tasting with a 12 year old PX Sherry with rich chocolate cake, an experience not to be missed!  Again, we’d be happy to provide a quiz to add some competitive sparkle to the event and, as before, we bring all the necessary glasses, tasting notes and other equipment that we need and only ask the venue to provide water glasses and water jugs.  Our fee for this type of evening for a group of up to 12 people is £390, with additional people being charged at £32.50/head.

Gin Tasting: For a private gin tasting, we provide 6 different craft gins including a locally-sourced premium craft gin, a spiced gin, an Old Tom gin and a premium gin from either Spain or the US, all with their own unique taste. We also include, in the middle of our tasting, a sloe gin cocktail to add some sparkle.  We bring Fever Tree tonic water and plenty of ice and garnish – lemon, lime, rosemary, even some red chilli peppers – to help you make your perfect G&T.  Aim is to have plenty of fun while weaving in some gin-related history and giving you some lowdown on how the different gins are made.

For a gin tasting for up to 12 people, we again charge £390 which is calculated on the basis of £32.50/head.

As before, we bring everything we need for the tasting (glasses, the tonics, cooling equipment, some tasting notes, some nibbles) and the only thing we ask you to provide is some water glasses and a jug or two of water.

The charges above do not allow for any venue charge and assume that we are coming to a venue provided by yourselves.  However if you would like help in securing a suitable venue pleased do let us know.

Oxford Chelt Wine School operate in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire and we’re part of the Local Wine School network, if you require tastings in other areas please do feel free to make direct approaches to the other Wine Schools.
