There has been an indisputable rise in vintage bridal inspiration, with bridal magazines, websites, blogs and even social media websites such as Pinterest becoming full of stunning vintage gown designs, whimsical and rustic venues and classic flower arrangements.

In collaboration with Bride: The Wedding Show at Ascot Racecourse, 12th-13th March 2016, we asked three amazing exhibitors to give us their expert thoughts on upcoming vintage bridal trends that we can expect to see in 2016, as well as what we can look forward to seeing at the show.

1 . Your wedding stationery

Your wedding invite gives your guests a little taste of what’s to come with the style of your wedding day. With this in mind it’s especially important that it reflects your theme, style, colour pallette and of course, personality.

“This year we’ve noticed vintage designs breaking off into two distinct trends. The first is traditional vintage - think delicate lacing and intricate detailing paired with elegant diamantes,  pearl embellishment and simple satin ribbon. Pearlescent card is popular at the moment, in an ivory or white, often with a hint of dusky or muted colour” explains Diane O’Hara, Dilightful Weddings Ltd.

“The second is a more rustic variation, again using pearl and lace, but with more earthy and neutral tones. Kraft, recycled card, handmade enveloping and the introduction of burlap and twine help to give the vintage style a rustic twist, which  is becoming highly requested by couples. Pewter and pearl embellishments work exceptionally well with this theme.”

Find Dilightful Weddings Ltd. displaying a range of traditional, elegant, handcrafted invitations and on the day stationery, as well as their message in a bottle range. They will also be launching this season’s exclusive and never-before-seen rustic/vintage stationery.

2 . Your wedding cake

Traditionally a white cake with fondant icing, fondant roses and several tiers, the wedding cake and cake cutting ritual  is one of the most classic elements to a wedding.

Blushing Cook 1

Sammi-Jo Gascoyne, owner of Blushing Cook and established chef has identified some stunning new vintage trends that are set to be big for 2016. “I’ve had a lot of requests recently for edible flowers, both fresh and dried. These are becoming hugely popular, and I have many  dried flower designs for people to get inspiration from.

Shimmers and dusting on fruits and decoration is another trend I’ve seen. Sometimes I add a touch of gold to something simple like popcorn, for a beautifully golden embellishment for your cake. Pearly shimmers are also great for adding a vintage feel. I sometimes dip cherries in white chocolate and shimmer them with some pearl, these always add a beautiful touch to a cake.

In terms of flavours for vintage cakes, if it is a naked cake, the good old British Victoria sponge is always a favourite - lemon is also popular.”

Blushing Cook will be showcasing some delicious, fresh, floral, fruity and as natural as possible cakes with a touch of elegance at the event. Remember to ask Sammi about her about her natural recipes!
