As your big day approaches and with a million and one things to do, now more than ever, your diet is key. Here at Vows and Venues, we’ve teamed up with Rick Hay, The SuperFoodist nutritionist to provide you and your family with top tips on how you can manage your diet in the lead up to the big day:
Brightly coloured diet
This involves eating foods that are fresh and natural and possibly cutting down on excess red meat consumption, wheat, dairy, sugar, processed foods and alcohol. This will help the body to gently cleanse and alkalise - helping you to achieve radiant skin and better hair and nail health too!
High fibre foods
These help with cleansing, regularity and with blood sugar regulation. Having high fibre foods will ensure that you have less craving and help stable moods during this stressful time.
My favourites for an early morning smoothie include spinach or kale, together with a banana and a couple of dates or figs, blended with some rice or almond milk. Don’t forget to use fruits and vegetables together, to help keep blood sugar levels steady.
Supplement boost
I always encourage taking vitamins and supplements to help balance the body. Swisse Vitamins’ Hair, Skin, Nails formula is one of my favourites - it has the botanical blood orange together with the co-factors selenium, biotin, zinc and vitamin C to help with collagen formation. It also can give you that little energy boost to get you through the planning.
Helping hand for weight control
I recommend 5 sessions of HIIT sessions a week for best results - nutrition and exercise go hand in hand and you will get much better results when combining the two. I’d also recommend Swisse Ultiplus Weight Control, it is a complimentary addition for those watching their waistlines as it contains glucomannan, which is a natural fibre.. This combined with one of my recipes below is key to achieving even better results.
