Planning a wedding can naturally get fraught at times. After all it’s the one of the biggest days of your life and you want everything to be perfect. As the big day edges closer, it’s natural for the bride to get a little anxious, especially if everything isn’t in place. Though if a little healthy apprehension turns into the soon-to-be-bride being intolerably demanding, an irrational bridezilla could be rearing its head and it’s time to step back and asses your behaviour.

If this sounds a little too close for comfort and you fear there’s a bridezilla in the making, take a look at the following signs you’re turning into an over-demanding, wedding-infatuated gremlin and how to get your old self back on track

The wedding budget has been blow out of proportion

You’ve bought the wedding dress of your dreams, the venue is booked, you’ve paid the caterers, put a deposit

money

down for the honeymoon, and guess what, you’ve gone totally over your once well thought out wedding budget.

Perhaps it’s got something to do with the limousine you’ve ordered to take you to the church, the gold-encrusted crockery sat proudly on the tables at the reception and the ornate arch you’ve had handcrafted as an elaborate entrance to the venue, oh and not to mention the dozen or so crates of Moet champagne you’ve ordered to welcome the guests.

The solution? Step back and re-evaluate your wedding budget. Ask yourself, do you really need such elaborate trimmings? Or are they just superfluous expenses you could do without?

The bridesmaids are bearing the brunt of the angst

They’ve been your best friends for pretty much all of your life but despite this, much of your bridezilla rants tend to be directed at them! You need to remember that whilst your bridesmaids will be excited for your wedding, they have their own lives and they are entitled to dye their hair whatever colour they wish, get pregnant and have tattoos!

If you seem to be being a little harsh on the bridesmaids and are worried you are jeopardising your friendships, arrange a catch-up with the bridesmaids over a quiet cup of coffee. Explain to them how you feel and that you’re sorry you might be getting a little too focused on the wedding preparations.

Your fiancé avoids mentioning ‘the wedding’

Such is your infatuation with the wedding that your weary fiancé is so exhausted with wedding plans and

coffee be ans

preparations that he goes out of his way to avoiding mentioning the big ‘W’.

The solution? Take regular breaks from the wedding preparations and ensure you enjoy other activities that doesn’t involve making wedding lists in one form or another!

People are starting to avoid you

Due to your relentless wedding chatter that’s becoming increasingly boring to polite listeners, friends and even family are beginning to avoid you.

None of us like to be avoided and taking a little time to stand back, self-reflect and think about how you are behaving in the run up to the wedding, may help you realise that yes the wedding is one of the biggest events in your life, but letting it jeopardise relationships is a long way from being the wedding of your dreams.
