Summer is on it’s way, which means we are coming into wedding season! Fretting about how to fix those locks, or fussing over which style to go for? Top stylist, Gary Russell is on hand to give you all the advice you’ll need. So whether you are preparing for your big day this year, or just getting some ideas for when the time comes, The Chapel have rounded up some of the most popular and on trend wedding day styles for you.

The Classic Bun

Top-knot or low bun, there are so many variations on this beautiful, classic look. It’s timeless chic appearance is a great match for any bridal style; whether you are going for the plain and simple look or more elaborate bridal attire, there is a bun style for just about everyone. With the endless options on innovation with this style, it can work for all hair types, whether you have thick or thin hair, long or short, and everything in between. Add pearl or flower accessories to inject further character into the look, as seen on the SS/16 runways. This vintage twist will give a whole new take on a plain bun.

The Elegant Down ‘Do

The natural, flowing ‘down’ look works wonderfully for hair of any length. Adding curls gives volume to the look which can be styled anywhere from neat, Marilyn Monroe-esque waves, to big, unabashed, untamed ringlets. This option works on any natural hair type, whether you’re naturally straight or have tight curls, and all the stages in between! This vibrant, voluminous hairstyle could be enhanced by adding some beautiful ivory accessories and could be well suited to a contrasting delicate gown.

Braids and Fishtails

This fun, innovative look has so many style options, giving you the freedom to be as unique or traditional as you like. Create large plaited strands, pulling out wisps of hair here and there for a relaxed, wild feel, or opt for neat and tidy braids that stay smaller and closer to the head. This elegant and tidy ‘do is a perfect style to compliment a more prominent make-up palette: pair with a bold lip colour to really set this look off. For originality, you could add a burst of colour into your plait with a brightly coloured ribbon or subtle lace material to intertwine with your natural shades. Braids and fishtails are all about texture: the perfect look to fit in with this year’s boho styles.

The Side Bun/Plait Combo

This ‘do is perfect for those brides who can’t quite decide on a single hairstyle for their big day. Combining two classic looks, this plait and messy bun pairing looks equally great alongside a short, floaty number as it does a floor-length traditional gown. Whether you opt for the side plait leading into the bun or to plait the bun itself, this style has an array of different options to make your look unique.
