Everyone has their own way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. It’s the time of the year when love flourishes, hearts fill with romance, and chances are taken – which means it’s prime time for engagement proposals!

The starting point of every marriage, proposals have become steadily more important with some planned to almost military precision. It’s a moment that will be remembered for a lifetime, and many grooms – as well as brides – want it to be as perfect as possible. The options and possibilities now available have made it a well-thought-over process!

To help with this and to commemorate Valentine’s Day this year, Jurys Inn Hotels have created a short graphic novel called ‘A Valentine’s Day Story’. It’s a fantasy based story that includes some history about the day as well as providing some proposal idea inspiration in terms of location.

The story follows John, a man who is ready to propose to his girlfriend but is unsure of where the perfect place to do so is. Adding a mythical element, Anteros (the Greek God of Requited Love, aka the “Cupid” statue at Piccadilly Circus) comes to life and visits him in the night. Anteros tells John that he will help him with his proposal by showing him five romantic places to propose.

Taking flight together, they journey across the UK & Ireland to these places. Visiting Oxford, Hinderwell, Edinburgh, Dublin, and Cardiff, Anteros teaches John a little about each romantic spot and what makes them special.

The lovely aspect of the story is that the romantic proposal spots shown to John aren’t lavish locations somewhere abroad. They are simple yet beautifully picturesque places right here in the UK & Ireland, highlighting that breaking the bank isn’t the only way to make a proposal special. All it really takes it to just be in a memorable place with the one you love. With a ring, of course.
