Liz Taylor, MD of the Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC), the UK’s leading wedding and event planners, passes on her handy hints for a wonderful winter wedding:
Winter weddings are on the rise, and are set to be THE big trend for 2016. Lots of couples are opting to get married then because they just love the time of year, you know exactly what weather to expect and the wedding schedule of most venues is quieter. Plus, weddings against a wintry backdrop are completely romantic. However those diaries are getting booked up so you better move fast!
Liz shares her top three tips for the most romantic day of the year:
Book your venue well in advance as they will be busy with Christmas parties. Many venues are less expensive between Christmas and New Year, which is a bonus, but it’s an ideal choice of family wedding date too, as they children are already off school and it’s generally a quiet time after the Christmas chaos.
Flowers are lovely to dress a table but are more expensive at Christmas so think creatively – chunky gold candles nestled in a bed of lush green foliage, heather, bark and lavender, alongside artichokes and berries sprayed gold on-trend
festive look. Or go for a contemporary winter wonderland feel using chunky white candles, twinkling tea lights with frosted foliage, twigs and berries. Create an ‘iced lake’ dance floor and some electric blue or bright pink lighting to enhance an elegant winter wonderland. Also worth remembering that many venues will already have their event rooms dressed for Christmas you could consider saving some money by working their décor into your wedding reception styling, and then spend your own décor budget on adding beautiful bespoke details..such as a fabulous flying reindeer!
Embrace the festive traditions such as Christmas trees and gifts and include them in your wedding reception. Dress Christmas trees to match your wedding colours, frost your guests’ names and table number on baubles and place on the tree for a unique table plan! Create miniature gift-wrapped parcels filled with little gifts as wedding favours. Or, have foil-covered chocolate Santas embossed with your guest names, then use as a place setting at the table and yummy chocolate treat to enjoy with coffee too!
Oh and one last thing – enjoy the day!
