How to save money on your wedding car

Due to the Coronavirus, we are now working from home, if you need to contact us urgently please email: emmah@euromedia-al.co.uk

According to research carried out by wedding website Hitched, the average UK wedding costs £25,090. With 36% of couples paying out of their own pocket and a further 48% sharing the cost with their parents, it’s likely you’ll want to cut back your spending in certain areas.

Luckily, if you know what you’re doing, you can save a lot of money on your transportation for the days. So, if you would like to lower the cost of getting to the wedding venue and reception on your big day, here are our tips for making your money go as far as possible.

Ask a friend or family member

If you know somebody with a fancy or classic car, why not ask if you can borrow it for the day? Some people pay hundreds for the privilege of being driven around in an old-fashioned or flashy car, so it would be silly to pass up the opportunity to do so for free. People are always particularly generous when it comes to weddings, so the owner might be willing to be your chauffeur for the day, saving you even more money!

Like with most things, booking the transport for your wedding well in advance could save you a lot of money. This is especially important if you’re getting married in the summer when extra special modes of transport are high in demand for proms, graduations and other people’s weddings. Alternatively, if you’re getting married in the colder months, you’re likely to get a cheaper deal as it is, but you can still reduce the cost by making your decision early.

Rent a car for your honeymoon

If you’re getting married abroad and will be staying longer than the rest of your wedding party for your honeymoon, consider renting a car that you can use for both your ceremony and holiday. There are a lot of things to consider, though, such as insurance and potentially hidden costs, so check out the AA’s guide to hiring a car abroad before making any decisions.

Choose a nice car that you’ll be happy arriving at your wedding in, but also one that will serve you well when you’re exploring your honeymoon destination as newlyweds. If you’ve never driven a car outside of the UK, be sure to check out Lookers’ checklist for driving abroad, which will help you to prepare for this new and exciting experience.

Book everything with the same company

Depending on how many people you’ll be transporting on the day, you might be looking to hire more than one car. Companies are much more likely to offer you a discount if you book multiple cars with them. This might mean that you have to be slightly more flexible with your choice of cars, but you’ll save money that you can spend on another more important aspect of your wedding.

If you’re looking for ways to save on your wedding, your transport is a great place to start. And, if you follow our tips, you’ll be likely to drive down the price of your wedding quite significantly.
