Planning a wedding can be a stressful job, and perfect wedding dress can be an even harder task - especially if you’re not looking for the big day to be traditional. With the rise of themed weddings and relaxed beach affairs taking over the classic church theme, brides are given the opportunity to do it their way more than ever.  Whilst a wedding may require extreme planning and care, the option to choose a spontaneous, laid back affair is gaining popularity, and fast!

Once the ring is placed firmly on your finger and the date for the big day is set, what’s the next step? Ordinarily you would say that now is the time for the bride to pick her dress, but with so many options and so little time, how do you choose the one for you? Traditionally an appointment with a

wedding dress specialist would be made, however is this a tradition of the past? With a recent article from The Guardian announcing that the average British wedding costs an absurd £20,500, we can see why brides to be are looking to find ways to cut cost.  Women don’t want to spend a fortune on a dress that they will only wear once anymore, they want a dress that they feel comfortable in and don’t have to worry about spilling champagne down during the 12th round of toasts. With the rise of alternative celebrations such as ‘Trash the Dress’ the traditional concept of the wedding dress has disappeared, replaced with a more fun, relaxed approach to finding ‘the one’.

High street stores are quickly coming to the rescue for many brides and bridesmaids, allowing them to find exactly what they’re looking for without the stress and extra costs. Retailers are taking advantage of this trend, with fashion stores such as ASOS, Monsoon and Little Mistress launching affordable bridal collections, offering everything you need at the click of a button. There are many reasons why the demand for these dresses is so high, whether it is due to the overall elegance, vast array of designs or overall cost. So if you are planning your big day, don’t rule out the high street for all of your bridal fashion requirements.
