Deciphering Wedding Anniversary Symbols!

Wedding anniversary symbols have changed over time and many of the traditional ones would now make unusual gifts. In truth, many of the modern anniversary symbols would also make for some strange face from your partners.

It really is couple dependant, and gifts to acknowledge your wedding anniversary, can be a big deal for some people, and not important for others. Within the traditional wedding anniversary symbols, there are some of the more typical gifts, such as diamonds and gold jewellery, but others are a bit strange. For example, if you chose the traditional option for your 10th wedding anniversary, and bought your partner tin or aluminium, you may get yourself in to a lot of trouble!

However, some of the traditional wedding symbols would still make great gifts today. For example, leather could work well for a 3rd anniversary, and you could buy your husband a leather bag for work. Flowers for a 4th anniversary are also perfect of course, who doesn’t love getting flowers?

Generally, as the years go on, couples stress less about the gifts they receive each year. However, in the first year, we do not recommend that you buy your partner paper or clocks, or you might not make it to year two!

It’s probably important that you get the big anniversaries right and the rest will take of itself. Do something special for your 1st anniversary, your 5th anniversary, and so on – hopefully that will keep the spark alive. It really isn’t about buying expensive gifts though, and if you can find your partner something that is meaningful to them, everything will be okay!

The traditional symbols make for an interesting read and you can get more information on both traditional and modern wedding symbols in this comprehensive guide from LoyesDiamonds.
