A groom to-be proved he is crazy in love this weekend by becoming the first person ever to propose on the world’s longest zipline in Ras Al Khaimah. Adrian Mackay, 30, from Bengaluru in India, showed that love really does lift us up where we belong by popping the question to his wife-to-be as she came in to land on the suspended platform high up on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s tallest mountain.

The adrenaline-fueled proposal was supported by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and Toro Verde UAE who arranged for a ‘will you marry me’ banner to be unveiled as Mr Mackay got down on one knee 80m above the mountain floor.

Mr Mackay was first to fly the 2.83km zipline, before waiting on the unique suspended platform to ask for his partners hand in marriage.  The bride-to-be, Susan Kuruvilla, also from Bangalore, had her breathe taken away from both the exhilarating flight and her partner’s surprise proposal but found her voice to say a big ‘yes’. Groom Takes Flight to Propose on World’s Longest Zipline

Mr Mackay said: “I wanted to do something special to make our engagement unique and when I heard about the world’s longest zipline, I knew it would be the perfect way to propose.  From the beautiful drive to Ras Al Khaimah to the stunning views in the Jais Mountains and the exhilaration of the zipline itself, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the operator, Toro Verde, did everything possible to make it even more special.  I am so happy I got to ask the girl of my dreams to marry me and do the world’s longest zipline”.

Ras Al Khaimah is fast becoming the region’s adventure sports hub, boasting Jebel Jais Flight: the world’s longest zipline as well as the region’s first Via Ferrata, hiking, climbing and zipline experience.  With the Emirate benefitting from a diverse landscape – including the Hajar Mountains and Jebel Jais – it has built a following amongst walkers, hikers and cyclists and is planning to further enhance its adventure offer in 2018 and beyond.

Groom Takes Flight to Propose on World’s Longest ZiplineSince it’s opening in February 2018, the world’s longest zipline has welcomed over 10,000 pilots and Mr Mackay was the first person to request to propose on the global bucket list attraction.
